Alessandra Guigoni is a cultural anthropologist specialising in food studies, with a PhD from the University of Siena and a postdoctoral fellowship in Cagliari. She teaches Cultural Anthropology at IED and has held academic positions across several Italian universities. Her research weaves together foodscapes, agri-food heritage, and local development, particularly in Sardinia, where she has conducted fieldwork in over 50 locations.
Author of more than 60 articles and a dozen books—including works on Mediterranean knowledge systems, the anthropology of eating and drinking, and food biodiversity—Guigoni blends academic insight with applied action. She is engaged in revitalising traditional cuisines, supporting Sardinian wine and food communities, and promoting sustainable tourism.
Beyond academia, she collaborates with institutions such as ISRE Nuoro, initiatives like Slow Food, and cultural festivals including Scirarindi and Appetitosamente. She is also active as a journalist and public intellectual, contributing to magazines, radio, television, and digital media platforms.
