He was a member of the Board of Directors of the College of Geographers of Spain (2011 to 2019), being responsible for the area of training and entrepreneurship.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Geographers of Spain (2011 to 2019), being responsible for the area of training and entrepreneurship, and Member of Working Group 13: Intelligent Rural Communities of the Secretary of State for the Information Society and Digital Agenda. SESIAD at the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism (from 2016 to 2018). Vice-Dean of Tourism, Geography and Alumni at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the UA. As well as director of the University Headquarters of Villena at the UA, between November 2012 and February 2017. Coordinator of the Report On the impact of tourism and its incidence on Sustainability (SEGITTUR and College of Geographers, 2019).
Guest lecturer at the Colombian Universities of Valle (Cali), Universidad del Cauca (Popayán) and Nariño (Pasto) in the Master of Administration for local development and social innovation; Also at L'Institut du patrimoine culturel de l'Université Laval de Quebec (Canada), at the University Degli Studi Aldo Moro de Bari (Italy), at the University of Aix-en-Provence (France), University of Lüneburg (Germany), and also at the Ecuadorian universities of Central de Ecuador (Quito), Técnica de Manabí (Puerto Viejo) and Universidad Estatal del Sur de Manabí (Jipijapa), UNICEPES-Universidad Centro Panamericana de Estudios Superiores.
Director and researcher in competitive, national and European R+D+i projects. Also in development cooperation of the UA with Cuba, Peru and Colombia. He has more than a hundred publications both in informative and scientific articles and in indexed journals, book chapters and books, with topics closely linked to local development, industrial and tourism activities, territorial innovation, participatory and community strategic planning, cinema and territory, cultural heritage and identity, rural development and depopulation.

To date, he has supervised 13 doctoral theses and is currently PI, together with Professor Carlos Manuel Valdés, professor at the University Carlos III of Madrid, of the FAERNES project Ref. PID2022-138080OB-I00 (ESPACIOS RURALES Y NATURALES EN EL CINE DE FICCION RODADO EN ESPAÑA. DOCUMENTARY REGISTRATION AND TERRITORIAL, TOURIST AND AUDIOVISUAL ANALYSIS), of the Ministry of Science and Innovation (2022, type B modality).
In teaching he has been appointed EXCELLENT professor (99 to 100 points out of 100) at the University of Alicante for the last four academic years 2020-2021 to 2023-2024.
